4-14-08 Trooper went to his foster mom's house
today. He is a little scared but adjusting well. Dr Agustin thought that he would rest better in a home environment where
he will receive the attention that he needs. He will still need a lot of medical care & will have to be taken to the vets
office a couple times a week. Keep him in your prayers.
Trooper
sends his love to everyone that has been so caring & supportive. He looks better but this will be a slow healing process.
I can't believe the scars & bite wounds all over him. My sister-in-law Jorae went by Dr Agustin's office
& seen him, she called me crying. She said that the look in his eyes is heartbreaking, she said that he is much smaller
than he looks in the picture....he is short but his body is swollen & it is still difficult for him to stand very long
& sometimes the breathing pattern changes. Another rescue friend, Jill brought him a bunch of new fleece blankets, a pillow
with dogs and cats on the pillow case, and a bear that is an angel and put it in his pen. She said that he looks so much better
than he did a couple of days ago & that Dr Agustin is doing a wonderful job with him. Jill took some pictures of
him today (a couple of friends have been my legs since I can't walk or drive right now) Another rescue friend, Stephanie,
stopped by with a blanket & some chicken for a treat but he was too medicated to eat. She said that he is such a sweetie. This
is so sad, but she said that when you reach to pet him sometimes that he flenches....we know what that means, of course
are we really surprised!! So far there hasn't been any leads with the police regarding the treatment of Trooper,
it's still under investigation....we are staying on top of that. There has been contacts made with the newspaper &
radio station. Today Trooper got a medicated bath, a massage (the doc is also a massage therapist) and he received
lots of love from his visitors tonight (even though he slept through most of it, due to the meds that they used
when they did some repairing of the open wounds). He needs lots of rest right now, we all know that is important for
the healing process. All his wounds are stitched now & the tubes have been removed. Dr Agustin confirmed with me
today that the x-ray gave the diagnosis that the wounds to the lung, chest & side are consistent with stab
wounds. He also feels that there is previous scarring to the lung, so between the combination, he does have an infection in
his lungs. This is the reason for the difficulty with the breathing, he is on strong antibiotics and pain meds.
Even with all of this, there is improvement & Dr Agustin gave us even more hope today. Trooper needs lots of rest, lots
of healing & it will take time...remember he's not young. There has been an overwhelming amount of phone
calls to Dr Agustin's office, if we could please keep the questions few.....we appreciate all the special attention that Dr
Agustin is giving Trooper & we should try not to interrupt that care. Dr Agustin says that visits with Trooper are
welcome but there is limited hours, so please do call before you drive there.....please take in consideration that Trooper
is still not well at all & needs his rest. I am sending detailed updates & pictures that should help answer a
lot of questions. I have received so many calls regarding how awesome & kind that Dr Agustin is. I am honored to have
my rescue associated with such a patient, compassionate & caring vet. We have raised $745.00 so far. A special thank
you from Trooper for all the financial support, prayers & thoughts. PS This email was sent to me....her dog is a patient at Dr Agustin's office, thought you'd want to see
an opinion from someone that I've never met or talked with before.I'm not sure about the Lab web site that she
is mentioning but the more exposure (public awareness) for Trooper the better.....maybe his pain won't be in vain
& it will save another pet. Her email is below: Liz Bagley - President/Founder (815)

Hi Liz, I saw Trooper on Tuesday evening after his first round of surgeries,
when I was visiting my dog at AAmerican. I can't ever remember a time that I felt so sick to my stomach. I
can only imagine what that poor precious baby went through. I couldn't get
him out of my head , so when I visited my dog today, I made a stop and picked up a little stuffed animal for Trooper.
Each of my dogs has a stuffed toy that they sleep with, so I thought Trooper would like something of his own as well.
When I asked to see Trooper, I was told that some people from the rescue group were with him and I met two of your caregivers. They
told me what they believe happened to him and I was stunned, shocked, sickened, that people purposely do this kind of thing. I found a blog site about Trooper under Labrador Retriever Dogs Chat Board, but was unable to reply,
as it said I do not have access and needed a password. I did not see anywhere for me to register. Can you please
advise how I can access that web site? As bad as the pictures on the chat board
look, seeing him close up with the obvious years of scars at different stages of healing, what they believe is a knife wound
and the scratch marks from being dragged is sickening. I literally cried all the way home, and am shedding a tear
as I type this and look at my other dog resting at my feet. I can't imagine how he feels both physically and mentally. Inhumane is not enough to describe a person that can repeatedly torture a helpless animal to this extent,
and the sad part is Trooper and Angel are not alone. I hope they catch this sick, sick, sick person, and throw him in
jail with harsh repercussions for his actions, not a simple fine. This person most likely has another bait dog now going
through what Trooper has just escaped. I hope it doesn't take years to find these people, otherwise we will continue
to see Troopers and Angels.
